The Weekend to Begin on a Wet Note

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity will be the rule on Saturday in Nederland and the surrounding Front Range Foothills communities. Morning sunshine will mix with puffy cumulus clouds as the day progresses. These clouds will build into showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. The combination of daytime heating, moisture, a weak disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere, and light upslope winds should all combine to produce some decent, slow moving, moderate to heavy rain producing thunderstorms. Some Foothills locations could see over 0.50 inches of rain, with a few isolated spots receiving up to 1.0 inch. Folks going hiking or fishing in the Indian Peaks should be prepared for some wet and stormy weather in the afternoon. Temperatures in Ned will rise to the low 70s before dropping into the upper 50s during afternoon rain.

Sunday will feature drier and warmer conditions, a great day for outdoors activities. Moisture and cooler temperatures will return next week as the summer monsoon tries to get going across Colorado.
