We experienced our first freeze of the season on Saturday morning with temperatures bottoming out around 31 F. As promised, this surge of cold air has been short-lived. Much milder temperatures will return on Sunday. A cold front will be slowly sagging southward towards Colorado over the next few days. Southwesterly winds will strengthen over Nederland as this front approaches bringing gusty winds and low humidity, two ingredients which can increase fire danger. This front will finally push through by midday Monday after which moisture will be on the increase. This pattern cooler and wetter conditions is expected to persist at least into Wednesday. At this point, significant amounts of precipitation are not expected, but at least the temperatures will be comfortable.
